What Is Design Thinking?

Design thinking is the process of representing products or services in a user-centric way. It is also an iterative process in which a designer seek to understand the user and redefine the problems of products or services in an attempt to identify alternative strategies and solutions.

It has to do with following the processes of design thinking thoroughly to achieve the desired result.

The processes of design thinking include:

  1. Empathy
  2. Defining the problem
  3. Ideate
  4. Prototype
  5. Testing

What does it mean for a designer to be able to fit himself into the shoes of a user?

It means that the designer develops a deep interest in understanding the people for whom they’re designing the products or services. This process helps designers to observe and develop empathy.
