My Design Journey

I gave up on programming in 2019, as each day passed I felt bad that I had no skill related to Computer Science since it’s my discipline. A friend told me about UI/UX Design in February 2020, I did my research and I decided to do it. I have always been a lover of design/art but I’m so bad at drawing. UI/UX design made me realize that I do not have to be good at drawing or painting before designing interfaces.

Design is the process of creating my imaginations/ideas in a way that is easily communicated. Design is everywhere because there is nothing in this life without a particular look and structure. It doesn’t only have to do with the outward look, the purpose of the design must also be put into consideration before and while designing. For example, you saw a very beautiful house in an advertisement, you loved it and you decided to buy it. Before paying you decided to see the apartment. You got to the house but you were disappointed at the internal structure of the house automatically you will lose interest in buying the house. The same applies to app and website designs, no matter how enticing the interface is if the app/website is not user-friendly people won’t use it.

I got to know about Wejapa Internship during my internship with HNG this year. My motive for joining the Wejapa internship is to unlearn, learn, become a better designer, and also get a very good job. I believe this move will help build my design career and also help meet great designers.
