I will use the design thinking approach below to create a solution for the company.

  1. Empathy: I will have to put myself in the user’s shoes in order to feel and think like a user of the website. I can visit the restaurant of the company if the company has any physical store to interact with the company’s customers. If the company does not have a restaurant, the designer can ask random people questions because food is meant for everybody. The designer will conduct a physical interview with them or preferably do an online interview. I can also ask the company questions like:

a. What is the age range of their customers?

b. How far is their houses from the restaurant?

c. What kind of food do they cook?

d. When do their customers buy food from them?

d. Who are the major target(users) of the app?

e. If the company introduces an app/website will their customers use it? and so on

2. Define: In this phase, I will be able to list out the problems that are associated with the task using the information I got in the empathy stage. I can also ask the company if truly they need an app or we should just conduct a survey to know where the problem is.

3. Ideate: I have to come up with creative ideas/strategies to tackle the problems I listed in the defining stage. I can do this by sketching on paper, using sticky notes to write down ideas, or using wireframe tools to create low-fidelity wireframes. Also In this phase, I will be able to know how many features the app/website will have and also construct the whole flow of the app.

4. Prototype: In this phase, I will turn the low-fidelity wireframes into a high-fidelity wireframe by using the correct fonts, colors, images and illustrations, etc to make the website or app look beautiful and user-friendly.

5. Test: After the design is completed and made interactive using prototyping tools, a few users are called upon to test the app/website. While this is ongoing if there are changes to be made, I will take note of them and then make necessary changes to the design and then test again till the design is ready to be developed by the developers and put out to the general public.
